Bracelet, Inscribed Inside and Outside, of King Psusennes the First
Among the 22 bracelets found on the arms of King Psusennes the First, this heavy one is the most interesting, as it has a special form and design. It is inscribed inside and outside with the name of the king and his epithets. The engraved text runs all around the bracelet from the outside and is incrusted with semiprecious stones. It shows the Udjat eye, symbol of protection, inlaid in reddish carnelian and decorated with the crowned cobra. The baboon of Thoth, god of the moon, is seen praying behind the eye. The text reads as follows: "King of Upper and Lower Egypt, Lord of the Two Lands, Lord of Strength, Psusennes, Beloved of Amun, May He Be Given Life." As for the text engraved inside the bracelet, it reads as follows: "The One Who Dwells as a God, Sovereign of Every Joy, Lord of Happiness." | ||
