This statue portrays an eagle spreading its wings and standing on the horn of prosperity, or cornucopia. The eagle was the symbol of the Roman Empire, representing the spirit and immortality.

It was usually shown in scenes of the deification of emperors and members of the imperial house. The eagle has symbolic significance for Coptic Christians, as it refers to the Lord Jesus Christ and Saint John.

The eagle here is depicted by the artist with the feathers and claws clear and the head turned to the left. The details are very carefully drawn in the head, the beak, the eyes, the claws, and the feathers on the body.
