Base of Statue of Taharqa
This base is part of a statue of King Taharqa, whose feet are partly visible. Judging from the size of the feet, the statue originally must have been huge. The remaining space on the surface is occupied by the name of the king and his royal titles, "The Perfect God," who dedicated the statue to the goddess Mut, the "Lady of Isherw, Karnak." The front of the base is decorated with two kneeling figures of bound foreigners. They are tied to the symbols of Upper and Lower Egypt and identified by their names, which are written beside them. Along the other sides, a list of the names of foreign countries is written, alternating northern and southern countries. | ||
