Block Statue of Sendjhouty, Son of Wennefer
This statue portrays Sendjhouty, the son of Wennefer. The statue was originally created for another person, and later re-inscribed for Sendjhouty. He is relaxed and squatting on a low cushion with his arms folded on his knees. In his right hand he holds a roll of cloth or papyrus, and he is wearing a short kilt secured by a decorated belt. Four columns of hieroglyphic inscriptions appear on the front of the statue. It is apparent from the figure's oversized ears and the wide, flat-topped wig that this statue was originally created during the Middle Kingdom. | ||
